Description
Acrylic painting of a very young male lion. This work highlights the expression of curiosity and tenderness of young cubs; their eyes shine brightly as they explore everything around them, their pupils fixed on a target that, at this age and as felines, can be anything.
The earthy and ochre tones and that small, barely visible mane on his crown are the only hint of what he will become in the future: the king and brother of kings who will share life on the savanna. I only interrupt the painting with an acacia tree, also a symbol of the harshness of this territory, where even the trees must defend themselves with their own weapons.
I remember my travels where I’ve been able to see them in person and observe them free in the heart of nature. You learn to love that freedom in which they still live, the harshness of that land, the kindness of each day that offers another opportunity to live, to learn how fleeting life is, and yet it’s natural. Every plant, flower, little animal, from the tiniest insect to the largest mammal, from the invisible flower to that seed that flies searching for a place—everything has its own meaning.
There, where man doesn’t yet interfere too much, where he still holds his breath while observing life making its way, this little lion, tender today, fearsome tomorrow, is proof of that.
