Description
I present to you one of my first abstract paintings; in it, I have captured a nocturnal cityscape of a city asleep in the night.
In this work, I have emphasised blacks and greys to create an image of a city almost in complete darkness, interrupted only by a few windows and the lights of a building, the sole indication that the night also exists. This image evokes a sense of peace and, at the same time, a sense of dread at what the shadows conceal. Looking from afar, you are struck by the tranquil beach with its perfectly calm waters, illuminated only faintly by a moon hiding behind the clouds. The city sleeps, the city rests, the moon fully embraces the peace of the night, the distant mountains await awakening to the bustle of the new day… It is a painting that takes us from relaxation and rest to the uncertainty of not knowing if it is all just a dream.
The work is entirely acrylic on canvas, without a wooden frame. It has a gesso base that will make the work last over time, and its finish is with a protective enamel to prevent stains and protect the paint from humidity and contamination, thus maintaining the authentic colours with which it was made.
